The ProAdvice team have been providing professional accounting, consulting and education and training services to family businesses for over 20 years. Our team has extensive skills in providing advice to farming businesses and other businesses associated with agriculture.
Andrew is a director and head accountant of ProAdvice. Andrew specialises in providing services to farmers with an emphasis on business structures, succession and estate planning. Prior to joining our team, Andrew was a Partner of Day Neilson Accountants and then WHK in Geelong. Before joining Day Nielson in 1991, Andrew worked as an accountant for a number of firms based in Tasmania and the UK. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University and a Diploma in Farm Management from Glenormiston Agricultural College. He grew up on a family farm in Tasmania and now owns and operates his own farm at Bannockburn near Geelong. Andrew enjoys farming, sport, collecting antiques, kayaking and bushwalking.
Ann has worked in Business Advisory and Taxation Services since 1987 and directly with Andrew Dunbabin since 1990. Ann was a senior manager in a major accounting firm before joining our team. She is one of our senior accountants based in the Geelong office, working with clients to minimise their taxation obligations and to assist clients in following through with their financial strategies. Ann holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a member of CPA Australia. Ann lives in Ocean Grove with her husband and two children and her passion outside of work is football, both local and AFL, in particular St Kilda, netball and reading.
Peter holds a Diploma in Farm Management from Marcus Oldham, a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University and is a CPA. Peter joined our team in 2006 and has worked in Business Advisory and Taxation Services since 1989. Before becoming an accountant, Peter spent 8 years working on cropping and grazing properties in WA. Peter has specialised in self managed superannuation to complement his practical experience in the primary production sector. Peter’s community mindedness has seen him act as a loaned executive to United Way and has acted as treasurer of the Hope Bereavement Services Inc for 15 years. Peter lives in Geelong with his wife and daughter and enjoys supporting the West Coast Eagles in the AFL, cycling and gardening.
Clinton commenced work in a public practice accounting firm in 1998 before joining our team in 2007. Clinton’s role has been primarily in taxation, but has also evolved into elements of succession and estate planning. Clinton shares the desire of most clients to protect their assets whilst minimising taxation obligations. He works closely with clients to find equitable solutions for all financial situations. Clinton holds a Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University, where he majored in Accounting and Management before undertaking and completing the chartered accountants qualification through the institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia. Clinton’s interests outside work are sports, particularly playing cricket in the summer and trying to keep up with two active sons.
Kate has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from Deakin University and has also completed the chartered accountants qualification through the institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia. Kate has been a member of our team since 2006, working in the Business Advisory and Taxation Services area. Prior to joining us Kate worked for a large accounting practice in Geelong and a large wholesale fresh food business. At Proadvice Kate specialises in the primary production area and with small businesses and is dedicated to assisting her clients in minimising their taxation obligations. She also works closely with clients to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their accounting software. The close relationship the firm has with its clients and having a real understanding of their businesses is what motivates Kate in her work. Kate is married with one child and enjoys horse riding, netball, reading and managing a small farm with her husband.
Tracey has been a member of our team since 2008 and works as an accountant in the Geelong office. She specialises in the area of accounting and tax for self managed superannuation funds. Tracey started her accounting career in 1989 and in that time has worked at two local public accounting firms, working primarily in business and taxation services. She has a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University and is a qualified CPA. She lives in Grovedale, is married and has two young children, with whom she loves to spend time with. Tracey enjoys supporting her children in their sporting interests, socialising with family and friends and is a very devoted Geelong Cats fan.
Taxation Law Specialist
James joined out team in 2006 and works as an accountant and taxation adviser. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Taxation Institute of Australia. James started his accounting career in 1968 working for one of the top four chartered accounting firms. James has also worked for accounting firms in London. In the past he wrote a series of booklets on GST when it was first introduced and contributed a fortnightly column in the Geelong Advertiser for twelve years. He has lectured in tax at Deakin University and is a Past President of The Rotary Club of Geelong Central. James enjoys travelling in France, the French language and culture, cricket and other sports and his Rotary Club.
Lachlan has been involved in Agricultural Consulting since 1992. During this time Lachlan has held many key roles pertinent to the Agricultural industry including Director of Farm Management at Marcus Oldham College and National Landcare Facilitator. Lachlan has completed a Diploma Farm Management (Hons), Bachelor of Business (Agriculture) and a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning. Lachlan joined our team in 2011 and works closely with family businesses providing them with leadership and guidance. Lachlan enjoys fishing, cricket, gardening and learning German.
Simone joined our team in 2007 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and Bachelor of Management (Marketing & HRM) at the University of Ballarat. Whilst at university Simone undertook studies in Sweden and also enjoyed travelling through Europe and Scandinavia. Coming from a small town in the Wimmera where her parents own a small business, Simone is familiar with the issues many of our clients endure and works closely with our clients to assist them with tax planning. Simone is also responsible for the preparation of financial statements and tax returns, BAS preparation and graduate training. She has previously worked at GrainCorp, which initiated her interest in agricultural business, as a loaned executive for United Way and as a board member for Volunteering Geelong. Simone is currently completing the Chartered Accountant qualifications. Simone enjoys running, snowboarding, movies, travelling and spending time with friends.
Nicole is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business from Ballarat University. Nicole started work in audit services in 1989 for a Melbourne firm, where she was based for 3 years before taking up a position with a London firm. After a further 2 years in this field Nicole transferred to business advisory and taxation services and has been a key player on our team in this area since August 2007. Nicole lives in Geelong with her husband and two children. One of her interests outside of work is travelling.
In 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University Maurizio joined our team where he is responsible for the preparation of financial statements and tax returns. Whilst studying Maurizio also working as an office junior for a private firm for two years and in 2009 Maurizio studied abroad, completing a semester in India for a unit in international business. Maurizio enjoys football, tennis, camping and travelling.
Bronwyn started her accounting career in 1998 and joined our team in 2007. Bronwyn completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance at Deakin University, before undertaking and completing the Chartered Accountants qualification through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Coming from a family farm, Bronwyn has seen firsthand many of the issues that our clients encounter and would like nothing more than to see our clients run successful businesses. Bronwyn is responsible for the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, BAS, year end planning and management of client groups, clients accounting IT assistance, as well as in house IT . Bronwyn is married with two children and works part-time allowing her to fulfil her family commitments.
Junior Accountant – Superannuation
Christina started her professional career in 2007, completing a business administration traineeship at a law firm and continuing on as a personal assistant, then as part of the mortgage team before moving to a financial planning firm where she was responsible for running the SMSF department. Christina assisted with the development and management of new funds in the firm which resulted in the largest growth for an AMP Victorian regional office for that 12 month period. Christina joined our team in 2011 and now works closely with Tracey in the self managed superfund area as well as keeping our client’s information up to date with ASIC. Christina is currently studying a Commerce Degree fulltime at Deakin University.
Rebecca joined our team in 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and a Masters of Professional Accounting at Deakin University. Rebecca is familiar with the dealings of family business, as she grew up on a small property in Ballarat where her family owned and operated a milk bar. In her new role Rebecca works closely with Tracey in the self managed superfund area. Rebecca enjoys travelling, reading, going to the beach, snorkelling, camping and walking.
Marika starting working for an accounting firm in 1995 in a junior administration role before becoming Andrew Dunbabin’s personal assistant, a position she held for 5 years prior to taking maternity leave. During this time Marika has had 3 children and worked part time in various administration roles in the accounting industry before joining our team in 2011. Marika is responsible for BankLink administration and processing, preparation of activity statements and assisting clients to prepare for tax time. Marika is heavily involved with the Parents and Friends Committee of her children’s school, where she organises functions for the school community. She enjoys family camping trips with her husband and 3 children and loves reading and cooking when time allows.
Sharon has worked in a public practice accounting since 1987 prior to joining our team in 2006. Sharon is Office Manager for both Geelong and Hamilton offices. Sharon is also responsible for Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, implementation of office policies and procedures, staff administration, budgeting and invoicing and the overall smooth running of the Victorian offices. Sharon is currently studying a Diploma of Human Resource Management and completes her role four days a week, allowing her time to fulfil her family commitments. Sharon is married with two beautiful little boys and enjoys shopping and spending time with her family.

Jo joined our team in 2011, working in reception and accounting support administration. Jo had previously worked with the same accounting firm since 1990 and has over 25 years of Accounting practice administration experience. Jo’s knowledge and experience has been a great benefit to our front office team. Jo enjoys reading, bushwalking and movies.

Karen joined us in 2010 with a wide and varied range of skills acquired through working in the USA and Australia. Some of Karen’s previous roles include medical clerk, chemical/engineering technician, graphic design and marketing as well as bookkeeping and administration. In our team Karen is pivotal in her front office duties. Karen enjoys digital photo restoration and enhancements, graphic design work including creating artistic power point presentations and reading.
