Book Now

It has been an interesting few years to say the least, however we are hoping 2022 might resemble some kind of normal, so we are really excited to announce the return of the ProNet National Conference.  This year’s event is coming earlier than normal and is being held at the Peppers Mineral Springs Hotel, (as no doubt we could all benefit from a little RnR), at Hepburn Springs,  about 60 mins north west of Melbourne.

We have a more relaxed bus (business) tour than normal with just one business on the program, and that is the team from Honest Eggs.  We will make a few stops, visiting their packing and grading shed and their farm.  Then we have two days packed with thought provoking speakers to get you thinking and planning for the future of you, your business and your family.

This program covers everything from preparing for the carbon market, to preparing for succession, to implementing new technologies.  It is going to be a great event!  If you are itching to get back out and about, then sign up now.  The full program is attached, and a summary of some key highlights is provided below.

The Bus(iness) Tour

This year, we will be visiting Honest Eggs, who transitioned from traditional sheep farming to an egg business! We will get the low down on how to make new ideas scalable, how to manage enterprise diversification, find out what the drivers were for ‘big change’ and how to implement key changes successfully, as well as take a look at regenerative farming practices.  And maybe (if anyone is brave enough to ask), we can find out what came first, the chicken or the egg!…

Then we have some time on the program to soak up the spoils the venue and location have to offer, so feel free to book yourself in for a spa treatment or enjoy other activities within the region.

The Conference (see the full program)

Tim Moore is head of science and strategy at RegenCo.  Tim has over 20 years professional experience in natural resource management related science, policy and commercialisation.  With the target set by the MLA for the red meat industry to be carbon neutral by 2030, Tim will present on:

  • The process of carbon assessment
  • Understanding the carbon credit sale process
  • The role of grazing and cropping in sequestering carbon
  • The benefits of building and retaining carbon

Following on from that, Robert Herrmann from Mecardo returns to share his research and insights on the commodity prices as well as the carbon prices.  With everything seemingly at an all-time high, how long will it last?

How often do we hear about ag tech and big data these days?…with that in mind Mark Morton will lead a panel discussion including Philip Chan of Agriwebb, Ben Van Delden from KPMG, Jack Briscoe from Xytovet and our very own Chris Scheid.  All panellists have been dealing with ag tech and big data in various forms and will share with us their wisdom on the topic, as Mark quizzes them on ‘is ag tech just solutions looking for problems; or, where is the real value?’

We end the day with (technology permitting) a live link to Bernd Schanzenbacher.  Bernd travels the world looking for primary production businesses to invest in.  Bernd will provide his views on the global agriculture sector and the trends he is seeing in different regions, as well as providing insight into how to be investor ready as a primary production business.

Day 2 – It’s All About You, yep this session is all about you, and is presented by Rob Edwards.  Rob’s focus is to ensure you are focused on looking after your best asset, which is yourself.  In this session you will learn how small, consistent actions, can make the biggest difference to your long-term performance and the quality of your life, both personally and professionally.  Rob will also teach us how to set goals that really matter.

The last session is a client case study with the Diprose family.  In this case study discussion facilitated by Clinton, we will hear how this forward planning family farming business has gone from blue gums, to wind farms, and now dairy farms.  Themes of the discussion include key drivers behind considering alternative power sources and how to approach making significant business changes.
